Deployment

System Requirements — JKMail

Prepare the operating system, DNS, network and storage environment required for JKMail.

Server environment

JKMail is designed for a dedicated or appropriately isolated Linux mail environment with a stable public hostname and persistent storage.

  • 64-bit Linux server.
  • Static or stable public IP addressing.
  • Correct forward DNS.
  • Persistent mailbox storage.
  • Accurate system time.
  • TLS certificates for public mail services.

Network services

The enabled ports depend on deployment policy. Typical JKMail deployments use SMTP for server-to-server delivery, authenticated submission for mail clients, and IMAP/IMAPS for mailbox access.

DNS preparation

Create the intended mail hostname before production activation. Reverse DNS should also identify the sending server appropriately where outbound Internet delivery is required.

Storage planning

Mailbox storage requirements grow independently from the application database. Allow sufficient capacity for active mailboxes, retained messages, logs, temporary queues and operational headroom.
