Aliases

An alias accepts mail for one address and directs it to another configured destination. Aliases are useful for role addresses such as sales, accounts or contact addresses where a separate mailbox is not required.

Forwarding considerations

• Verify that the destination address is correct.
• Avoid forwarding loops.
• Review spam implications when forwarding external mail.
• Remove aliases that are no longer required.

Mailbox versus alias

Use a mailbox when independent login, storage and message history are required. Use an alias when the address should simply direct mail elsewhere.
