Mail service components
A hosted email environment normally involves SMTP delivery, authenticated submission, mailbox storage and IMAP access. The exact services available depend on the JKPanel Server deployment.
DNS requirements
- An MX record pointing to the intended mail host.
- An A or AAAA record for that mail host.
- SPF policy appropriate to authorised outbound servers.
- DKIM signing where configured.
- DMARC policy appropriate to the organisation.
Mailbox administration
Create mailboxes only for authorised users and apply appropriate quotas. Disable unused accounts and use strong passwords.
Delivery troubleshooting
- Confirm MX resolution.
- Confirm the recipient mailbox exists.
- Trace the sending MTA.
- Check receiving MTA response codes.
- Check final mailbox delivery and spam filtering.
